Animal Hospital

Animal Hospital (sometimes shortened to AH, ahospital, or just the Hospital) is an independent music collective and record label founded in 2025 by Mouse de Topi. It describes itself as "a congregation of people who make things that don't fit anywhere else." Its output spans harsh noise, shoegaze, noise walls, indie rock, sound collage, plunderphonics, ambient, drone, and MIDI music, on the stated grounds that the label does not specialize in genre, instead specializing in being loud.

Animal Hospital is the sister label of the Dana Zane Fan Club. The two operate independently.

Relationship with the Dana Zane Fan Club

The relationship predates the Fan Club itself. Animal Hospital released I'm Inventing You by Mimi Marzipan, which later became DZFC-001, the Club's first catalog entry. The Hospital has never formally defined the arrangement and shows no interest in doing so^{[citation needed]}, so we are defining it as sisterhood.

Temperamentally the labels are opposites, which is generally held to be "the point".

Philosophy

Animal Hospital assembles its own physical releases, runs a Discord server, and accepts unsolicited submissions of music, art, and essays. This open-door policy and DIY style is consistent with the collective's founding premise: the work that doesn't fit anywhere else has to fit somewhere.

Trivia

• Every staff title at the label is a hospital job. Nobody has explained the cat's.^{[he keeps the morale high, obviously]}
• The label accepts essays. No other netlabel I've heard of accepts essays.
